Abraham Maslow

Today, I'm going to write about an expert in my field (that is, Psychology): Abraham Maslow.

Maslow was an American psychologist, and is known for was one of the mains exponents of the Humanist Psychology, a school of thought located between the paradigm of the behaviourism and paradigm of the psychoanalysis. This school postulate that the human being haves a basic tendency for search the mental health, through a series of process in the life, like the self-fulfilment, the self-knowledge, and the consciousness of the own potentialities.

In first place, Maslow is famous for was one of the "fathers" or fundadors of the Humanist Psychology, and investigate in this school that I described earlier in the text.

Secondly, his theoretical development more famous is the pyramid of the necessities. This pyramid postulate a hierarchy of the necessities of the human being.

His importance nowdays, in broad strokes, it's all the legacy about this paradigm located between the paradigm of the behaviourism and paradigm of the psychoanalysis. Besides, one of the contributions that more I like, it's his perspective about the creative personality, that in addition, includes a small critique about the actually education.

I found out about him because in one of our courses I learn about the Humanist Psychology, and naturally, about one of the fathers of this school: Maslow.

  1. It seems to me that the human being is very honorable in the name of his humanist perspective, but what retractors exist around his perspective? During the theory courses I had, I've always heard bad reviews of behaviorism, but may be related perhaps with the typical fights between humanistic sciences jaja

    regards :)
